More than 25 kilograms of cocaine have been seized
The judicial authority ordered his imprisonment
The Civil Guard, under the authority of the Customs and Excise Administrator of the Tax Agency, has arrested an individual, a resident of Tenerife, who disembarked at Puerto de la Luz from Arrecife (Lanzarote), and was carrying more than 25 kg of cocaine hidden in a false bottom of a vehicle, allegedly in the form of a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking.
The operation took place at the Nelson Mandela dock in the Port of La Luz (Las Palmas), during a routine check on the embarkation of passengers and vehicles from the ferry arriving from Arrecife (Lanzarote). The operation was carried out with the assistance of a dog from the Civil Guard's Canine Service, trained in drug detection. When the vehicle was diverted to the checkpoint, it was marked by the dog, and after an exhaustive search, accompanied by the experience and expertise of the responding officers, the seized substance was discovered, which was hidden in a false bottom. This method of concealment was specifically designed for this purpose, as it was opened electronically. A total of 21 rectangular packages were found, containing a substance that, after carrying out the corresponding tests, tested positive for cocaine, yielding a total weight of 25,60 kg.
The Civil Guard officers involved were responsible for preparing the corresponding police report, which was handed over, along with the detainee and other evidence, to the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) Duty Court of Instruction, whose judge ordered his imprisonment.
The seized drugs were sent to the Health Department of the Las Palmas Government Subdelegation for analysis and the issuance of the appropriate official report on the type and degree of purity.
