The Gran Canaria Tourist Board has completed a comprehensive maintenance and improvement plan for the island's southern viewpoints. The result is a circuit of panoramic balconies that, by summer 2025, will be in impeccable condition, ready to dazzle those seeking the perfect photo or simply a moment of contemplation.
The route begins at the Degollada de las Yeguas Viewpoint. From here, the view of the Fataga Ravine is breathtaking. The maintenance team has reconditioned the pavement and reinforced the railings, ensuring maximum safety. The new information panels, with illustrations and information about the local flora and fauna, enrich the experience, turning the stop into a nature lesson under the open sky.
Moving further inland, the Mirador de la Presa de las Niñas is an oasis of peace. The calm waters of the reservoir, surrounded by the intense green vegetation, offer a fascinating contrast to the surrounding arid mountains. The clean and well-maintained rest and picnic areas invite you to take a refreshing break before continuing your journey.
The climax of this route is at the Balcón de la Aldea Viewpoint. Although geographically located on the border between south and west, its view is one of the most spectacular on the island. The walkways have been completely refurbished and painted, and the protective barriers have been inspected to ensure the solidity of this balcony overlooking the ocean. The sight of the imposing cliffs falling into the Atlantic is an image that is etched in the memory of every visitor.
Finally, for lovers of the night sky, the Temisas Astronomical Observatory offers a unique experience. The cleanup of the surroundings and the restoration of astronomical observation points ensure that there is no better place to gaze at the stars in the south of Gran Canaria.
