The municipal department of public services, headed by Araceli Armas Cruz and coordinated by Councilor Eduardo Armas Herrera, will undertake the construction work with a budget of €556.000. The projects are already well advanced.
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has decided to undertake works on the public drinking water network in the neighboring towns of El Rodeo Alto, Arteara, and Ayagaures, and resolve their long-standing supply problems.
A budget of €556.000 will be allocated to the projects, financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN) as part of the Gran Canaria Island Council's Socioeconomic Development Program for the 2026/2027 period. €2026 will be invested in 296.000, and the remaining €260.000 in 2027. Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez's proposal was unanimously approved by the City Council at its plenary session last Friday.
"These improvements to the water supply network will be carried out in phases. In the cases of Ayagaures and Arteara, whose projects are already quite advanced and in the hands of the municipal public services department, the project affecting Rodeo Alto is already in the drafting phase," says Araceli Armas.
The first works to be formalized will be in El Rodeo Alto, and are intended to provide a water supply network. The estimated investment is €90.000. This area was previously served by a private well that has been put out of service due to salinity problems.
It is also planned to provide the Arteara district with its own supply pipeline and improve the Ayagaures supply network, thus addressing a long-standing demand from the residents of both towns.
