The Gran Canaria Housing Consortium, led by the Vice President of the Island Council and Minister of Public Works, Architecture, and Housing, Augusto Hidalgo, has approved a direct grant of one million euros to the Mogán City Council to begin the renovation and transformation of the homes located in the Charca de Arguineguín and the Barranco de Pino Seco.

This initiative is part of the Program to Aid the Eradication of Degraded Areas, Slums, and Substandard Housing, a joint agreement between the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda, the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, the Gran Canaria Island Council, and the Mogán City Council.

The Consortium's contribution represents 20,86% of the total budget, which amounts to €4.794.191. The Ministry of Transport contributes €1.874.370 (39,10%), the Canary Islands Housing Institute allocates €712.000 (14,85%), and the Mogán City Council contributes €1.207.821 (25,19%).

"With this investment of one million euros, the Housing Consortium is committed to rehabilitating the degraded areas in the Charca de Arguineguín and Barranco de Pino Seco, to eradicate the substandard housing that still persists on our island and provide these families with decent housing," explained Augusto Hidalgo.

The project will allow work to be carried out on around twenty substandard housing projects, improving the living conditions and quality of life of their residents.

In addition, the Housing Consortium is promoting a similar plan in the municipality of Agüimes, where another €200 million grant will be allocated for the renovation and regeneration of the La Paz residential development, benefiting approximately XNUMX homes.

"Similar to Mogán, we are going to allocate these resources to improve another degraded area in Agüimes, reaffirming our commitment to eradicating shantytowns and improving housing in Gran Canaria," Hidalgo concluded.
