Alejandro Marichal: "We're responding to a real problem. We want our working-class residents to be able to continue living here, in their municipality, without rent being a reason to leave."

Lucía Jiménez: "It's a pleasure to announce that 54 families will soon receive their first aid. We're fine-tuning the new foundation to reach more residents."

FINAL LIST HERE

The Housing Department of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has finalized the list of families who will receive the first round of rental assistance for primary and permanent residences . A total of €173.448,14 will be distributed directly to 54 families and working individuals registered as residents of the municipality , with the aim of easing the financial burden of monthly rent payments and ensuring that no one has to leave their home for economic reasons.

This is the first aid of its kind in the municipality's history and stems from the commitment of the Department of Housing, led by Lucía Jiménez (CC), to a housing policy that puts people at the center. In this first round, some applicants were unable to access the aid because they did not meet certain requirements established in the rules, such as a minimum residency in the municipality for one year before the start of the subsidy period, the income limit according to the IPREM (Spanish Institute of Population and Housing), or proof of a specific employment situation. For these reasons, work is already underway on more flexible rules for the next round, reducing criteria and requirements so that many more people can benefit in 2026 from aid corresponding to the 2025 period.

Beneficiaries will receive aid ranging from €370 to €6.000, depending on their financial situation and the eligibility period. Although the maximum amount established in the rules was €3.000 per applicant, this first edition took into account rents for 2023 and 2024, allowing some families to double their aid and have more solid support to face their housing payments.

First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal celebrates that "this aid addresses a real problem. We want our hardworking residents to be able to continue living here, in their municipality, without rent being a reason to leave. This is just the beginning."

For her part, Councilor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez, emphasized that "it is a pleasure to announce that many families will soon receive their first aid. And the best part is that this doesn't stop there; we are fine-tuning the new foundations to reach more people, because we want the next aid to reach all families who need it."

With this resolution, the Department of Housing achieves a goal it set at the beginning of its term: to provide financial relief to those most in need and strengthen people's ties to the municipality, making living in San Bartolomé de Tirajana possible.

The list of beneficiaries has been published from today in the BOP as well as on the electronic notice board of the City Council, on the municipal website www.maspalomas.com.
