Maspalomas24h Friday, 29 of August of 2025

The show, which combines the traditions of the Canary Islands, Lesotho, and Venezuela, can be enjoyed from 22:30 p.m.

This Friday night, August 29th, at 22:30 p.m., Televisión Canaria will broadcast the closing ceremony of the 30th edition of the Ingenio International Folklore Festival, "Muestra Solidaria de los Pueblos," which took place last July in Néstor Álamo Park in the aforementioned municipality.

The cameras of Canarian public television recorded the brilliant event, which fused traditional music and dance from three diverse continents—Africa, Europe, and America—in a captivating multicultural journey through the distinctive sounds and festivals of the Canary Islands, Lesotho, and Venezuela.

Throughout the program, you can enjoy the talent of singer Iván Quintana, the ingenious décimas of Yeray Rodríguez, and the folklore and traditional dance of the Coros y Danzas de Ingenio groups, the Barinas folklore company from Venezuela, the Tetir Folklore Group from Fuerteventura, and the Sotho Kids national folklore group from Lesotho. At the closing gala held at the end of July in Ingenio, the organizers wanted to pay tribute to some of Gran Canaria's most popular festivals, such as La Rama and Carnival. For this reason, viewers will also be able to watch performances by the Los Legañosos murga group from Carrizal and the multi-award-winning Aragüimé comparsa from Agüimes on the Televisión Canaria program.

The program, which will air Friday night, will conclude with the image of all the participating groups performing the popular anthem "Cantar a la vida" (Singing to Life), composed by Armando Hernández for the event, on stage, and the splendor of fireworks illuminating the Ingeniense night, watched over by the imposing and slender figure of the Paquesito palm tree in Néstor Álamo Park.

The Ingenio International Folklore Festival 'Muestra Solidaria de los Pueblos' (Solidarity Show of the Peoples), organized for 30 years by the Ingenio Choirs and Dances Cultural Association in collaboration with the Ingenio City Council and the Gran Canaria Island Council, has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands and constitutes a cultural benchmark in the Mid-Atlantic for the varied offerings that its successive programs have always proposed throughout its three decades of existence. More than 300 groups from more than 80 different countries from the five continents of the planet have participated in the festival, which positions Ingenio, Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands as a meeting point for folklore in the world.
