The first week of September in southern Gran Canaria will bring mild temperatures, partly cloudy skies, and the likely arrival of calima (a type of haze) driven by the trade winds. The sea will be rough, especially in areas facing northeast.
According to the Canary Islands State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the beginning of September will be marked by highs of between 24 and 27°C and lows of between 17 and 23°C. In southern Gran Canaria, periods of sun and cloud are forecast, with the possibility of scattered showers on Monday the 1st and Friday the 5th. Skies will clear up towards midweek, with mild highs of around 26–27°C.
The northeasterly trade winds will blow at moderate to strong intensity. This will favor the arrival of suspended Saharan dust, generating haze episodes between Monday and Wednesday. On the south and southeast coasts, swells with rough seas and even strong waves are expected in the most exposed sections.
In the north of Gran Canaria, the situation will be different, with greater cloud cover in the mid-mountains due to the usual sea of clouds. Temperatures there will be slightly cooler, with highs of 23–24°C and steady lows around 21–22°C. Northeasterly winds will also be present, although less intense than in the south.
