Alejandro Marichal: "Each license we approve is another step in the modernization of Maspalomas Costa Canaria. They are synonymous with employment, competitiveness, and a future for the municipality."

Davinia Ramírez: "It proves that agile and transparent urban planning can attract investment, strengthen tourism competitiveness, and provide real solutions to the needs of residents and businesses."

The Department of Urban Planning is strengthening the modernization of Playa del Inglés with the approval of three renovation licenses for a combined investment of €5,2 million. These projects will modernize and reposition three accommodation complexes located in one of the main tourist areas of the Canary Islands. The improvement of the rooms, facades, and common areas of these establishments will represent a leap in the quality of the accommodation offering, key to maintaining the destination's competitiveness and responding to the demands of the international market.

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Davinia Ramírez (CC), emphasized that "these renovations have been processed expeditiously so that developers can implement investments as soon as possible that improve the image and quality of our accommodation." For his part, the First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, underlined the importance of these projects for the destination: "Each license we approve is another step in the modernization of Maspalomas Costa Canaria. These private investments are synonymous with employment, competitiveness, and a future for the municipality."

It's worth remembering that the Urban Planning Department has granted more than 210 major construction permits in the first two years of its mandate, which translates into more than €220 million in mobilized investment (including these last three permits) and the creation of more than 3.000 jobs during construction.

The work of the Urban Planning Department has unlocked projects that had been stalled for more than two decades, freed up strategic land for new facilities and housing, and facilitated the modernization of the hotel infrastructure with projects such as the renovations of the Rondo Hotel, the Beach Club Hotel, the Jardín del Sol Apartments, and the Bahía Feliz non-hotel complex.

As Davinia Ramírez explains, "it demonstrates that agile and transparent urban planning is capable of attracting investment, strengthening tourism competitiveness, and providing real solutions to the needs of residents and businesses."

Sahara Playa Hotel – Investment, 2.259.000 euros.

The Sahara Playa Hotel is undergoing a major renovation to adapt to current international tourism standards and improve the guest experience. This complex has 38 accommodation units and 76 tourist beds, which remain unchanged, so the project does not involve an increase in beds or a change of category.

The renovation includes a complete modernization of the rooms, with a redesign of the bathrooms, replacement of interior woodwork, and new finishes on the floors, walls, and ceilings. The reception and buffet will also be completely renovated, with updated electrical, plumbing, and sanitation systems and more efficient materials. The façade will be transformed with a ventilation system that provides energy efficiency and a refreshed appearance. The common areas will incorporate new flooring, wall coverings, and entrances. The planned investment amounts to €2.259.000.

1 Royal Playa Apartments – Investment, 1.452.000 euros.

The Royal Playa complex is undergoing a comprehensive modernization to strengthen its appeal in an increasingly competitive market. It currently has 29 units and 87 beds, which have been maintained after the renovation, so the number of beds has not increased. The project also remains unchanged, although the quality of the renovation will allow the establishment to aspire to a higher category within the apartment category.

The project includes the interior renovation of all units, including kitchen and bathroom renovations, replacement of fixtures, and new finishes. Common areas, such as stairwells, hallways, and entrances, will be modernized, while the façade will be transformed with a ventilation system and state-of-the-art exterior carpentry, improving both aesthetics and energy efficiency. In addition, the underground floors will be adapted for auxiliary uses such as storage. The total investment amounts to €1.452.000.

3 Salmon Playa Apartments - Investment, 1.563.000 euros

The Salmón Playa complex is undergoing a renovation with a clear focus on accessibility and the modernization of its facilities. It has 29 units and 87 beds, which have been maintained after the renovation, with no additional beds or changes in facilities.

The work includes a complete renovation of the apartments, replacing flooring, wall coverings, kitchens, and bathrooms, as well as replacing interior woodwork. An exterior elevator will be installed to serve a unit adapted for people with reduced mobility, ensuring compliance with accessibility regulations. The façade will be completely renovated with a ventilation system and new exterior woodwork, which will improve the building's energy efficiency and image. The old walkways connecting to other establishments will also be removed, closing the gaps with modern railings, and access and common areas will be improved. The planned investment is €1.563.000.

Together, the three projects respond to a clear need to modernize Playa del Inglés's accommodation facilities to adapt them to the new demands of European tourism, which is increasingly demanding in terms of energy efficiency, accessibility, comfort, and aesthetics. Although none of the projects involve an increase in beds or a change in accommodation type, they all consolidate the quality of the complexes, increase their competitiveness, and contribute to the urban renewal of one of the main avenues of Maspalomas Costa Canaria.
