Nordic currencies mark the agenda for southern Gran Canaria in November.

Gran Canaria will maintain significant air connectivity in November, although with variations depending on the country of origin of tourists. Airlines have scheduled 1.676.076 seats on direct flights to the archipelago, representing an increase of 86.865 seats compared to the same month last year.

In Gran Canaria, the changes are moderate. From Norway, the island will receive 21.693 seats, just 144 more than in November 2024. Flights from Sweden add 17.730 seats, an increase of 1.845 seats, while from Denmark there is a significant reduction, with 9.068 seats, 3.532 fewer than last year.

These figures reflect that, although overall connectivity to Gran Canaria remains high, there are significant differences between markets. The slight increase from Norway and Sweden contrasts with the decline from Denmark, indicating uneven demand that the tourism sector will need to manage prudently.

On the economic front, the situation with the Norwegian krone (NOK) could influence Scandinavian tourists' travel decisions. UBS has projected that the EUR/NOK pair will resume its downward trend during the second half of 2025 and into 2026, following a period of volatility linked to rate cuts by Norges Bank.

The latest Norwegian economic data show solid GDP growth and activity close to historical averages, supporting a stable and potentially stronger currency against the euro.

These economic factors reinforce the need for the tourism sector in Gran Canaria to carefully manage the forecast of arrivals from Norway and Sweden, while adapting to the drop in flights from Denmark and possible changes in travelers' purchasing power.
