The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published Royal Decree 657/2025, of July 22, appointing the magistrates specializing in commercial matters who have passed the selective promotion and specialization tests convened by the General Council of the Judiciary. Among the appointments is Mr. Matías Martínez Gómez, currently a magistrate at the Court of First Instance No. 5 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, who will be assigned to the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.

The appointment follows successful completion of the competitive examinations for promotion and specialization in commercial matters, announced by the Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary on May 23, 2024, and in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law of the Judiciary, articles 311.1 and related articles, as well as the seventh section of the call for applications.

The Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), at its meeting on July 8, 2025, formally proposed the appointment of the candidates, who now assume their new responsibility in the commercial area of ​​the Superior Court of Justice. This promotion represents recognition of the efforts and professional career of Martínez Gómez, who throughout his career has stood out for his experience in the commercial jurisdiction and for his commitment to justice in the Canary Islands.
