CENCOSU-SPAR Gran Canaria, one of the main food groups operating on the island, opened a new 2025 m² logistics platform in El Goro in January 5.000, supplying 201 stores.
The supermarket chain renews its trust in SISLOG to manage this new warehouse that operates with temperature-controlled products.
SISLOG SGA demonstrates its ability to orchestrate complex logistics flows between different refrigerated and frozen storage areas.
SISLOG, a business unit of Hardis Group, a company focused on logistics management in warehouses, industry, and stores, announces that its warehouse management software (WMS) solution has been implemented on CENCOSU-SPAR Gran Canaria's new logistics platform dedicated to fresh and frozen products.
SISLOG optimizes logistics management for 201 SPAR stores in Gran Canaria.
The new logistics center is strategically located in the El Goro industrial park. It has 5.000 m² and six loading docks, enabling it to serve 201 stores daily. This is in addition to the company's other two logistics centers, one specializing in fruit and vegetables in Mercalaspalmas, and another dedicated to dry goods, also located in El Goro. The logistics processes and flows of these three platforms are managed by SISLOG's warehouse management system (WMS).

The SISLOG implementation project in the new warehouse took place over a seven-month period and faced several challenges. The space was divided into two distinct zones: one for frozen products and the other for refrigerated products. Specific picking spaces were defined in each zone, taking into account item rotation and the most appropriate preparation methods for each item.
Thus, for areas with medium and low turnover, optimized preparation processes have been designed for single or multiple orders, supported by conventional shelving and drive-in storage, depending on the product type.
Picking: from "multi-order" to tight flow
Pick-to-cart picking has made it easier for CENCOSU-SPAR Gran Canaria to prepare orders for different customers in a single picking trip. Cages with separate, individually labeled insulated containers are used. This operation has reduced travel and increased efficiency by eliminating the need for subsequent deconsolidation.
In the coming months, a tight flow is planned to manage high-turnover items. Preparation will be carried out directly by distribution in a positive-temperature cold storage bay, starting with a grouped stock output from drive-through shelving.
This combination will provide maximum space utilization with strict FIFO (first in, first out) management and minimal product handling.
The flexibility of SISLOG WMS and its advanced configuration options have made it possible to manage these complex logistics processes and coordinate picking operations in the different cold storage facilities so that movements flow as quickly and efficiently as possible.
SISLOG allows CENCOSU-SPAR Gran Canaria to continue growing while adapting to changing consumer habits and new logistical challenges. The opening of this new center, which will guarantee an efficient and sustainable cold storage network, is the first step in the transformation of its logistics operations to achieve tight flow.
