At 17:00 p.m., following custom, and after the launch of the firecracker signaling the start, locals and visitors alike rushed into the Charco with excitement, joy, and a desire to have a good time while trying to catch as many mullets as possible. This event has become a symbol of the municipality, blending its past, culture, and customs.

The mayor of La Aldea, Pedro Suárez, expressed in his first celebration of the charco as the head of the municipality "the emotion and commitment that such a unique festival represents, which reaffirms us as a community and year after year attracts those who are not yet familiar with our tradition."
For her part, the Councilor for Festivities, Leandra Delgado, emphasized that the patron saint festivities dedicated to San Nicolás de Tolentino represent the feelings of a town that, as the song says, "is far from the capital" but "very close to the hearts of the people of Gran Canaria."
