The Del Castillo Family's Social Work in southern Gran Canaria is one of the major non-profit activities of the group that founded Maspalomas Costa Canaria. The Amurga Maspalomas Foundation, headquartered in the Mercurio Building in Playa del Inglés, is one of the most highly regarded institutions by residents of southern Gran Canaria for its educational offerings and support for the underprivileged.

Since its creation, the main objective of the Amurga Maspalomas Canary Islands Foundation has been to contribute to the development of the islands. The organization has always been sensitive to its environment, collaborating on local, island, and regional projects in areas as diverse as science, the environment, culture, and society. With a vision focused on growth through innovative projects, the Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to the care of natural resources and research as pillars for the future of the Archipelago.

In 2021, the foundation recorded revenue of €4.216,77, with one item generating a negative result of €1.812,73. Despite additional revenue of €21.000,0, total expenses amounted to €27.534,73, resulting in an unfavorable final balance of €6.534,73. 2022 marked a significant change in the financial situation. Revenue increased to €5.599,27, with a positive item of €2.936,36 and additional revenue of €27.000,0. With total expenses of €22.250,91, the foundation managed to turn the situation around, achieving a profit of €4.749,09. Finally, the positive trend continued in 2023. Income reached €11.445,25, with an additional €6.960,02, for a total income of €30.000,0. Despite expenses increasing to €25.976,34, the foundation closed the year with a profit of €4.023,66, consolidating its financial health for the period.

Last year, the president of the Amurga Foundation, Pedro Agustín del Castillo, highlighted the essence of the organization on its 20th anniversary. According to del Castillo, the Foundation's goal has always been to contribute to the development of the Canary Islands through actions in "intellectual, social, and environmental" fields. He emphasized that since its creation in 2004, the organization's scholarships have sought to promote training and research in the archipelago, a task that, in his own words, is inspired by a quote by César Manrique: "We must teach people to see; otherwise, we run the risk of spending our lives looking without realizing it." Del Castillo affirmed that this idea captures the essence of those who research and study: "to open paths and share the fruits of their knowledge with society."
