The Canary Islands Government, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, declares a pre-alert situation for maximum temperatures in Gran Canaria starting at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, September 15.

A pre-alert for wind has been declared in the Canary Islands and a pre-alert for coastal phenomena in the western islands and Gran Canaria starting at 18:00 p.m. today.

From Monday morning, a forest fire risk alert and a pre-alert for maximum temperatures will be in effect in Gran Canaria.

The last week of summer arrives in southern Gran Canaria with high temperatures, intense trade winds, and episodes of calima, according to forecasts from the Canary Islands State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The weather will remain stable but with factors that will reinforce the feeling of heat until next weekend. The weather forecast indicates the entry of a mass of warm, dry air into the archipelago, which will cause temperatures to rise.

According to AEMET Canarias, southern municipalities such as San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán will face days of mostly clear skies, with maximum temperatures between 29 and 33 degrees and minimum temperatures between 21 and 23 degrees. Calima winds at altitude could reduce visibility at various times during the week, while trade winds will blow moderate to strong, especially in the afternoons, with gusts that could exceed 55 km/h in the most exposed areas. Sea conditions will show rough swells and waves from the north, affecting the southeast and southwest coasts.

Southeast of the island

In areas such as Ingenio, Agüimes, and Santa Lucía de Tirajana, a dry and hot climate is expected, with highs potentially reaching 32 degrees. Calima winds could be more noticeable midweek, while the trade winds will maintain moderate gusts, reinforcing the temperature.

North of Gran Canaria

The northern slopes, including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will experience milder temperatures, with highs around 26 degrees and lows of 20 to 21 degrees. Humidity from the trade winds will generate low-level clouds in the early hours of the day, which will tend to dissipate during the afternoons, creating a cooler atmosphere compared to the south.
