A fire broke out in a ravine in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, and has led to the preventive evacuation of around thirty people and the rapid deployment of ground and air resources to contain the blaze.
According to information from neighbors, the fire was allegedly caused by the explosion of a gas cylinder in a cave house.
A fire broke out in the ravine near the Santa Lucía sugar mill, forcing the precautionary evacuation of nearly 30 residents from nearby homes. The fire, which started after a fire jumped from a house into the ravine, has affected approximately 500 square meters of vegetation.
Environmental units, the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, the Arinaga Fire Department, the Civil Guard, and the Santa Lucía Local Police are working along the perimeter to control the spread of the flames. An aircraft is also participating in the extinguishing efforts, deploying water cannons in hard-to-reach areas.
Emergency services remind residents that the evacuation was carried out purely as a precautionary measure and that, so far, no injuries have been reported. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and recommend extreme caution in the area while work continues to control and cool the ground.
