San Bartolomé de Tirajana will update its beach service fees after 25 years.

 

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Coastal Care Department will submit to the Plenary Session on September 25th the final approval of the modification of the public prices for sun loungers, umbrellas, Balinese beds, and lockers on the municipality's beaches, after addressing the objections submitted. The proposal was initially approved at the July 2025 Plenary Session and, once the period for public comment and objections has ended, will now be submitted for final approval. With this update, the City Council adapts the rates to the current economic and tourism reality, after more than 25 years without revision.

 

The price revision responds to the need to balance revenue with the actual costs of providing the service. The previous rates, in effect since the late 1990s, were €3 per sunbed, €3 per umbrella, and €5 for the sunbed-plus-umbrella package. With the new ordinance, the rates are now €4.50 per sunbed and €4.50 per umbrella, while Balinese beds will cost €15 per day and lockers or storage will cost €3. 

 

 

On this point, First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal emphasized that "after 25 years without revising rates, the new prices will allow for almost double the revenue, ensuring that the income covers the costs of the service and can be used to continue caring for and improving our beaches."

 

The upgrade will cover the costs of maintaining the service—materials, logistics, insurance, and environmental fees—and enhance the quality and safety offered to users. Even with the adjustment, fares remain competitive compared to other tourist destinations in the archipelago.

 

Yilenia Vega, Councilor for Coastal Care, emphasized that "along with the updated fares, we're adding amenities such as Balinese beds and lockers, which expand the options for users and allow us to offer a more modern coastline in line with current demands."
