Gran Canaria will record an overall tourism perception index of 82,66 points in 2025, but the data hides its flaws: the island has a hotel index of just 69 points, well below Antalya (69 for 3-star hotels and up to 80,5 for 5-star hotels) and Tenerife, which is close to 73,3 for high-end hotels. Hotel reviews confirm this weakness: only 64,7 points for 3-star hotels, compared to 65,6 for Antalya and even below Mallorca (56,1, but with greater progress for 4-star and 5-star hotels).
The problem isn't limited to accommodation quality. In terms of air connectivity, Gran Canaria barely added 2,95% more international seats between September and February, far from the 26% increase in Antalya, which stands as the main winter attraction. Added to this is an unconvincing pricing policy: 5-star hotels in Gran Canaria average €292, almost €70 less than Antalya, reflecting a loss of perceived value in the premium segment.
In a highly competitive environment, Mabrian data shows that Gran Canaria remains among the safe and climatically attractive destinations, but is lagging in quality, hotel reputation, and connectivity growth, losing ground to more dynamic competitors in the eastern Mediterranean.
Antalya achieved record daily passenger numbers twice in August 2025. On August 2, the city recorded its highest number of daily arrivals, with 105.284 international tourists (103.526 via Antalya Airport and 1.758 via Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport). On the same day, a total of 228.427 passengers and 1.225 flights were recorded, also representing all-time highs. Antalya Airport broke its own record on August 16, with 1.234 aircraft movements (1.094 international) and 230.002 passengers (207.661 international). This demonstrates that the city can handle a large number of tourists.
Between January and August 2025, Russia was Antalya's main source market, with 2,664 million visitors. This represents a 0,8% increase compared to 2024. Russian tourists accounted for 24,3% of total arrivals, consolidating their leadership in the local tourism landscape. Germany came in second with 2,205 million tourists, down 1%, accounting for 20,1% of the total. The United Kingdom recorded a 0,5% increase, with 1,116 million visitors (10,1% share), while Poland, the fourth largest market, recorded 913,532 tourists, up almost 1%, accounting for 8,3% of the total.
