SPAR Gran Canaria has strengthened its commitment to sport as a driving force for social integration through a new sponsorship agreement with the San Mateo Panadería Pulido (I+I) Football Club, an organization that has established itself as a leader in inclusive initiatives and citizen participation in four years.
Among its achievements is being one of the first clubs on the island, along with Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, to have an inclusive team within its youth categories. Furthermore, for the 2025-2026 season, the club plans to play around eight matches in which participants will be able to play in a competitive and friendly atmosphere.
Added to this commitment is the "Walking Football for People Over 60" initiative, which began in November 2024. This project, promoted by the Inter-Island Football Federation of Las Palmas (FIFLP) and supported by the San Mateo City Council, is part of the municipal active aging activities. CF Panadería Pulido San Mateo is currently the only club in Gran Canaria with a team in this category, expanding its reach to all age groups.
The presentation ceremony was attended by José López, Vice President of SPAR Gran Canaria; Alejandro Fleitas, General Manager of SPAR ARADASA; and Francisco Rodríguez Pulido, President of CF Panadería Pulido Vega in San Mateo. Also present on behalf of the City Council were Elena Santana, Councilor for Social Services, and Miguel Reyes, Councilor for Sports.
Through this sponsorship, SPAR Gran Canaria aims to take a further step in its social responsibility strategy, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing its contribution to SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 10 (reducing inequalities), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).
