The south of Gran Canaria has launched an innovative project that integrates artificial intelligence and secure messaging to transform the management of tourist accommodations. Led by the technology company Monentia, the initiative has a grant of almost €300.000 and the support of the Canary Islands Government and the European Union. The goal is to digitize operational processes and improve customer service, thus promoting more sustainable and personalized tourism in key destinations like Maspalomas.
The south of Gran Canaria strengthens its position as an innovative tourist destination with a pioneering project that seeks to transform accommodation management through secure conversational messaging based on artificial intelligence. The initiative is led by the technology company Monentia, the recipient of a €299.600 grant from the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, and 85% co-financed by the European Union through the 2021-2027 Canary Islands FEDER Program.
The project, framed within the strategic areas of the Expanded RIS3, aims to digitize and improve the sustainability of operational and customer service processes in the tourism sector. To this end, Monentia will develop a framework that integrates business systems (PMS, ERP, CRM, CMMS) with messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, and Slack, utilizing advanced artificial intelligence technologies such as Transformers, seq2seq, and word embedding.
The solution will allow for interpreting and responding to requests in natural language, improving operational efficiency and user experience while ensuring seamless communication between platforms and systems. According to project sources, the implementation period is twelve months, with completion expected by December 31, 2025.
This type of initiative not only boosts the innovative activity of Canarian SMEs but also seeks to generate tangible benefits for society, including environmental sustainability, job security, and a more personalized and digitalized tourist experience. For Maspalomas, one of the most important tourist hubs in Gran Canaria, the project reinforces its commitment to the technological transformation of the hospitality sector and the consolidation of digital and sustainable tourism on the island.
