Southern Gran Canaria has established itself as one of the most important municipalities in terms of tourism spending, according to the latest surveys. The data reveals clear patterns regarding length of stay, type of accommodation, and the socioeconomic profile of visitors, providing a precise snapshot of the economic contribution of tourism to the area.
Tourists staying between 1 and 7 nights spend an average of between €574 and €603, depending on the type of accommodation. Hotels spend slightly more than apartments or tourist villas, while other accommodation options have a more moderate average, close to €499. Even for short stays, visitors make a significant contribution to the local economy.
Tourists staying 8 to 15 nights increase their average spending to €842 in hotels, €739 in apartments, and €670 in other accommodation options. For those staying more than 15 nights, spending reaches €839 in hotels and €765 in apartments. These figures place San Bartolomé de Tirajana as a municipality with high tourist income, surpassing the levels recorded in other municipalities such as Mogán and Las Palmas.
Average spending also reflects the economic capacity of tourists. Visitors with incomes over €75.000 spend an average of €893 per stay, followed by those with incomes between €50.000 and €74.999 (€779). Even tourists with incomes under €25.000 spend around €650, demonstrating that the municipality attracts a diverse profile, although with a strong presence of high-income segments.
The evolution of spending over time shows a sustained increase in recent years, particularly among longer-stay visitors and those with higher purchasing power. This pattern supports the strategy of promoting San Bartolomé de Tirajana as a premium destination within Gran Canaria, offering opportunities to diversify the tourism offering and optimize profitability per visitor. Tirajana combines short-stay, high-turnover options with longer-stay, high-spending options. Detailed information by accommodation type and income level allows for fine-tuning the tourism offering and strengthening its position as an economic driver for the south of the island, consolidating its image as a leading destination for quality tourism in Gran Canaria.
