Tirajana: A drug gang from southern Gran Canaria is on trial.

YURENA VEGA - M24H Thursday, October 09, 2025

The Prosecutor's Office has formally requested the opening of oral proceedings against eleven people within the framework of a procedure conducted by the Third Court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in southern Gran Canaria, for their alleged involvement in the distribution of narcotic substances.

The indictment, filed with the Provincial Court of Las Palmas, details that the defendants, including MA, alias "Mito," JMGS, alias "Ceja," and AJMT, alias "Fofi," allegedly formed a criminal group with the goal of obtaining illicit profits through drug sales. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the suspects operated in Santa Lucía de Tirajana from August 2021 to March 2022.

The court document, obtained by Maspalomas24H, describes the group's hierarchical structure: MA allegedly directed and coordinated the activities; other defendants were in charge of logistics and distribution; while LM financed the purchase of the substances. AJIG, alias "Boxer," is also named, operating independently but with the same illicit purposes.

During the proceedings, authorized by the court on March 11, 2022, house searches were carried out, resulting in the seizure of nearly 366 kilograms of cannabis resin and other drugs, along with nearly €13.000 in cash from the main defendants and more than €45.000 from AJIG. Analysis confirmed the presence of cocaine, MDMA, and high-purity amphetamines.

The Prosecutor's Office accuses the defendants of committing crimes against public health and group-related offenses, as defined in Articles 368, 369, 374, and 570 of the Criminal Code. The prosecution seeks sentences of up to six years in prison and fines exceeding €1,4 million for the main members, as well as special disqualification from voting rights during the sentence. AJIG is being proposed for three years in prison and a fine of €7.006, with subsidiary criminal liability in case of non-payment.

Furthermore, the confiscation of the drugs, scales, and cash seized is being requested, as well as the destruction of the substances, preserving samples to ensure subsequent analysis. The case, which reflects the criminal activity in southern Gran Canaria and the response of the judicial and police authorities, is now awaiting a date for the oral trial before the Provincial Court, where the criminal liability of the accused and the corresponding penalties will be determined.
