From October 23rd to 26th, Gran Canaria transforms into a paradise for hiking enthusiasts with the 14th edition of the Gran Canaria Walking Festival (GCWF). Organized by Gran Canaria Natural & Active and supported by the Gran Canaria Island Council through Gran Canaria Tourism, the international festival promises unique experiences through the most iconic landscapes of the island's interior and south.
This year, the festival focuses on innovation and a diverse range of environments, presenting four new routes that traverse Artenara, Teror, Santa María de Guía, and San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Each route allows hikers to discover not only Gran Canaria's natural beauty but also its cultural and culinary secrets.
To the south of Gran Canaria there is Route 4: Descent to the emblematic Fataga
A spectacular finish with stunning views and a gastronomic stop at Finca Canarias Aloe Vera, where hikers will enjoy a snack lunch included in their registration fee.
In addition to the hiking experience, the festival strengthens its connection to the local cuisine and artisan products of Gran Canaria, offering picnics along the routes and the opportunity to experience authentic island flavors. All tours include transportation from two locations on the island, insurance, specialized multilingual guides, and gifts for participants.
The Gran Canaria Natural & Active association, the festival's driving force, continues to consolidate the island as a destination for active tourism. From hiking and canyoning to cultural routes and visits to museums and wineries, its goal is to promote Gran Canaria's nature, gastronomy, and ethnographic heritage.
Registrations are now open at www.grancanariawalkingfestival.com, where you can choose individual routes or the complete four-day package. An opportunity to immerse yourself in the nature, history, and flavors of Gran Canaria in a single festival.
