Makro celebrates the 10th Hospitality Day with a focus on the south of Gran Canaria

This week, southern Gran Canaria took center stage in a tribute to hospitality professionals, as part of the tenth anniversary of Hospitality Day, an initiative promoted by Makro in collaboration with the Spanish Hospitality Industry. The event took place at Makro's facilities on the island, Telde, bringing together entrepreneurs and industry representatives operating in key areas such as Maspalomas, Meloneras, and Puerto Rico, where tourism drives the local economy.

During the event, Amelia Gil, director of Makro in Gran Canaria, highlighted the importance of recognizing the daily efforts of hospitality professionals, "a demanding sector where behind every table and every bar there is invisible work that sustains the island's tourism and gastronomic offerings." Gil emphasized that Makro will continue to support establishments with a wholesale service that facilitates their daily work and promotes the professionalization of their teams.

The event also served to highlight the collaboration between local suppliers and the hospitality industry, promoting greater exposure for Gran Canaria products in hotels, restaurants, and bars in the south of the island. More than 40 establishments participated in promotional and networking activities, strengthening the economic fabric that supports much of the area's employment.

Hospitality Day, celebrated in numerous Spanish cities under the slogan "10 Years Celebrating the Hospitality Industry," recognizes the work of a sector that, beyond its economic contribution, acts as an ambassador for Spain's gastronomic and tourism culture. In southern Gran Canaria, this celebration takes on added value, coinciding with the peak season for international visitors and the need to strengthen the quality offering in hotels and restaurants.

For professionals in the south, this recognition boosts morale and the development of local initiatives, highlighting the sector's ability to adapt to challenges such as personnel management, culinary innovation, and environmental sustainability—aspects increasingly in demand by tourists visiting the island.

With a decade of operation, Makro continues to consolidate its role as a strategic partner for the hospitality industry, contributing to the professionalization and visibility of local products and strengthening southern Gran Canaria as a leading tourist and gastronomic destination.
