The new media includes QR codes with direct access to the Consortium's website and is designed based on accessibility and sustainability criteria.
The project is part of a joint initiative between the Cabildo and the local council to strengthen the municipality's tourist information and promotion.
The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, a joint venture between the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council, is completing the installation of a network of informative tourist maps distributed throughout different areas of the municipality, as part of a joint initiative aimed at improving the visitor experience and making it easier for residents to navigate the main attractions of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria area.
To date, ten informational maps have been installed at strategic points throughout the municipality, integrated into street furniture such as information walls and rest areas along the promenade. In the coming days, the project will be completed with the installation of five additional maps (on the Playa Meloneras promenade, the Meloneras Bulevar promenade, the Charca Maspalomas promenade, the beach access in front of RIU, the main entrance to Annex II, and the Toboplaya Viewpoint). This will bring the network of fifteen tourist panels to a total of 15 along the coast between Tarajalillo and Pasito Blanco.
The new materials include QR codes that link directly to the official website of the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium (www.consorciomaspalomasgc.com/mapa-turistico-maspalomas), providing access to up-to-date information on the municipality's main natural, cultural, and heritage resources. They also include photographs and descriptions of the ten most touristic areas—from Bahía Feliz to Meloneras—as well as hiking trails, shopping areas, leisure areas, beaches, and attractions in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Designed with accessibility, sustainability, and continuous updating in mind, the maps offer content in Spanish, English, and German, establishing themselves as a modern and useful tool for residents and tourists, reinforcing the Consortium's commitment to responsible, high-quality management of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria destination.
Promotion of the environment and improvement of the tourist image
Among the sites highlighted by this project are the Avenida de Francia viewpoint and the Avenida de América viewpoint, projects promoted in recent years by the Consortium with the aim of enhancing the municipality's panoramic and tourist-friendly spots. These interventions contribute to beautifying public spaces, improving signage and accessibility, and reinforcing Maspalomas' image as a leading tourist destination in the Canary Islands.
