For the second consecutive year, the Pasito Blanco marina will host the opening of GCSW.

The first day of Gran Canaria Swim Week kicked off this Wednesday, for the second consecutive year, at the Pasito Blanco marina, which became a unique setting for the opening of this new edition.
The president of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, emphasized that "the Pasito Blanco Marina once again becomes the perfect setting to inaugurate Swimwear Fashion Week. This location symbolizes the essence of our island and allows us to showcase to the world not only the creativity of our designers, but also the beauty of our surroundings. Investing in outdoor fashion shows is a way to promote Gran Canaria internationally, integrating its climate, landscapes, and natural spaces into the fashion experience itself."
For her part, Minerva Alonso, Regional Minister for Economic Development, stated that "Gran Canaria Swim Week 2025 reflects the Island Council's firm commitment to a creative and expanding sector, with enormous potential to generate economic growth, employment, and international exposure. From the public sector, we support talent, innovation, and sustainability as pillars driving the transformation of fashion in the Canary Islands. This runway show not only showcases collections but also demonstrates to the world a solid, emerging industry committed to a model of sustainable, high-quality growth."
Gisela (Spain), Joana Michaela (Spain), Victoria Cimadevilla (Spain), Nuria González (Gran Canaria, Spain) and Alexandra Miró (United Kingdom) were the leading brands on the first day of Gran Canaria Swim Week shows, where they unveiled their swimwear proposals for the Spring-Summer 2026 season.

First day of parades
The first brand to open the day of shows, making her debut at GCSW, was designer Joana Meyer, a pioneer in 3D fashion and textile innovation. She brought Joana Michaela, her personal brand from Barcelona, where technology and craftsmanship maintain a constant conversation. Les Flors, her Cruise collection, is a work where the flora and color palette of Gaudí's La Pedrera coexist with cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship, thus defining the DNA of her personal brand. Each piece is entirely made with 3D-printed fabrics, exploring new textures that reinterpret traditional lace from a contemporary perspective.
Next up was Gisela, a brand founded by Malaga-born designer Yolanda Ferrer, who has transformed the family brand into an international benchmark in intimate fashion. Her approach combines innovation, sensitivity, and strategic vision. With more than 3,5 million garments sold annually and a presence in over 30 countries, Yolanda has established Gisela as a symbol of beauty, emotion, and avant-garde.
The Les Voyages collection, inspired by the essence of the South of France, embodies the ultimate expression of effortless beauty and freedom, consolidating its evolution towards streetwear.
The afternoon continued with the latest offering from Asturian designer Victoria Cimadevilla, who returns for another edition with her Haute Couture swimwear offerings: unique, custom-made pieces crafted by artisans, sophisticated and versatile for day or night on the beach. Paying homage to Truman Capote's The Swans, Cimadevilla presents a collection inspired by the sophistication and sensuality of an enigmatic and unattainable woman. A work that explores sophistication through the duality between sensuality and mystery.
Nuria González, winner of the 2022 Best Sustainable Collection and a leading figure in Canary Islands swimwear and the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida label, draws inspiration for her collections from local ingredients and the nature that abounds on the islands. Her designs have graced runways in countries such as France and Germany and have been published in internationally recognized magazines. This season, FAN FATAL and the flowers of Mamapaca is an artisanal and eclectic tribute, inspired by Mamapaca's flowers, her mother Pino's paintings, and her sister Celeste's collages, with vibrant fabrics and unique prints. A proposal that blends the impossible and the natural, where each style is created by hand in the workshop with paper and scraps transformed into fashion.
To close out the first day of shows, British designer Alexandra Miró, a leading figure in resort glamour, redefines swimwear with bold silhouettes and prints. The Solaris collection channels the freewheeling, carefree glamour of 1970s American summers: poolside icons, desert voyages, and sun-drenched nostalgia.
Inauguration of height in Pasito Blanco
Once again, the Pasito Blanco Marina provided the perfect setting for the kickoff of Gran Canaria Swim Week. This year, outdoor fashion shows are once again a key tool for promoting the island internationally, showcasing its climate, landscapes, and natural surroundings as part of the experience.
Fashion, light, and nature merge into a single reflection. The 135-meter runway, dressed in gilded mirrors, magnifies the surroundings: the sky is drawn on the ground, clouds drift beneath the models' steps, and the tones of the sunset shimmer with them in each show. All around, white flags wave as part of the scenography, embracing the catwalk.
Karolina Kurkova dazzles on the catwalk
GCSW 2025 ambassador Karolina Kurkova took to the runway to kick off the latest edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week, dazzling all attendees on the opening day. The internationally renowned top model has walked for major luxury brands such as Chanel, Versace, and Louis Vuitton, and was a Victoria's Secret "Angel," a title that took her to the pinnacle of her career.
The most desired front row
Among the most prominent guests who gathered in the front row of the opening day of Gran Canaria Swim Week were editors-in-chief of leading national fashion and lifestyle media outlets, among others.
Content creators Paula Viana of The Backstage Talks, Marta Camin, and Marina Muñoz also attended the opening day of GCSW, along with Canary Islands influencers Yaiza Mencia, Marta Ibrahim, and Priscila Betancort.
All of them have increased the visibility of the shows by sharing their GCSW experience with their respective digital communities under the hashtags #GranCanariaSwimWeek2025 and #GranCanariaSwimWeek. In addition, a group of national and international media, both fashion and general, traveled to Gran Canaria to attend GCSW.
Sponsors and collaborators
This year, Iberia Express has become the official airline of Gran Canaria Swim Week with the aim of reaffirming its support for events that contribute to the island's international projection and its recognition as a meeting point for an industry like fashion, as well as consolidating it as an excellent location for organizing major events.
On this opening day, attendees were greeted by the new Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron, a 100% electric SUV that accompanied the start of the runway show, adding an extra touch of style and sophistication to the setting. Its sporty design, advanced technology, and long range symbolize the brand's new era of sustainable mobility, perfectly in line with the innovative and elegant spirit that defines Gran Canaria Swim Week.
In total, the catwalk features sixteen sponsoring brands, all of whom have demonstrated their unwavering support for the fashion industry by participating in this edition. In addition to Iberia Express and Audi, Expomeloneras, Pasito Blanco, RTVE, Oribe, Rowenta, Mahou 5 Estrellas, Fund Grube, Perchel Beach Club, Helamore, The Mint Company, Grupo Galarza-Cadiex, Blat Vodka, Fever Tree, Fonteide, and Munchitos are also sponsoring the event.
