The Maspalomas Secondary School (IES) has once again highlighted one of its most representative natural symbols: its palm trees. Once again this year, the school has collaborated with the Department of Education and the Municipal Parks and Gardens Service to carry out maintenance and restoration work on these emblematic trees, which now look in perfect condition.

Municipal workers pruned, cleaned, and inspected the crowns to ensure the safety of students and staff, especially in an area where wind and heat can compromise the health of the tallest trees. These preventive tasks are part of the annual conservation protocol that seeks to prevent tree detachment and ensure the stability of the oldest specimens.

The project responds not only to technical criteria, but also to aesthetic and symbolic ones. The palm trees, aligned along the school's entrances and courtyards, are part of the urban and educational landscape of Maspalomas, an environment where nature, safety, and learning coexist in balance.

The management of the Maspalomas Secondary School expressed its gratitude for the involvement of the Parks and Gardens staff and the support of the Department of Education, emphasizing that "the care of the palm trees is also a way of caring for our students and projecting an image of excellence in the south of Gran Canaria." The maintenance of these palm trees, which have become a symbol of the center and the tourist environment of Maspalomas, also contributes to the beautification of the municipality and reinforces the commitment to sustainable, safe public spaces in harmony with the landscape identity of the destination.
