At the Island Council, we continue to support a sector with enormous potential, which combines creativity, sustainability, and innovation as drivers of economic development and international projection for the island.”
Portuguese content creator and stylist Caetana Botelho was one of the key figures in the front row of the first day of shows at ExpoMeloneras. She was followed by content creators Paula Viana of TheBackstage Talks and Marta Camin, accompanied by Canarian content creators Amalia Fajardo, Omar Sánchez, Yaiza Mencía, Marta Ibrahim, and Priscila Betancort.
Second day of parades
On this second day, the Isla Bonita Moda, Macaronesia, Arena Negra Swimwear, and Lava fashion shows debut on the ExpoMeloneras runway at 4:00 p.m. Isla Bonita Moda is a platform that seeks to promote creative talent and designer fashion on the island of La Palma. Through Sodepal (the Society for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Island Council of La Palma), its objective is to highlight the unique character and cultural identity of the island.
Along these lines, her new project is the result of the creative synergy between eight local firms participating in the program—Adrienne, Alex Menorca, Atelier El Tesoro, Ban, Rayco Plata, Sara Luis Joyas, and Shamelu—who have joined forces to bring the "Agujas de Sal" collection to life. This collection aims to pay tribute to the art of La Palma embroidery and, in particular, to the grandmothers, who with their dedication have transformed this technique into a true form of expression, a letter to life.
The day of fashion shows continued with Macaronesia, born on the beaches of Lanzarote as a sustainable brand inspired by nature, drawn to ocean waves, tropical flowers, and everything that surrounds life by the ocean. More than just a swimwear brand, Macaronesia seeks to represent an island lifestyle. Meanwhile, Tenerife-based Gisela Tejera, with her Arena Negra Swimwear brand, is inspired by the colors of the sunset in her new collection, "Sunset." Through screen printing, embroidery, and trimmings, she completes looks ranging from bikinis and swimsuits to accessories and menswear.
The Tenerife-based brand Lava delves into the waters of the Canary Islands for its new collection, "Adeyahamen Adeyahamen," an indigenous word that can mean "underwater." Designed to move, endure, and stand out, it pays homage to the Canary Islands sea with the challenge the brand has set since its creation in 2011: to dress any athlete with joy and style. This time, the garments are filled with prints of the islands' marine fauna, fostering a fusion of sport and style.
At 5:00 p.m., Volcano Blood (Gran Canaria), a brand founded by twin sisters Karen and Sheila, presented their collection "Morena Tropicana, I Want Your Flavor," a love letter from Volcano Blood to the tropics. It's not just a style statement, but an invitation to embrace the warmth, rhythm, and energy of the tropics. The collection is inspired by the essence of countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica, and Colombia. It is characterized by a fusion of vivid colors, inspired by the lush landscapes, golden beaches, and multicolored sunsets of these destinations. The vibrant hues of flora and fauna blend with tropical patterns that evoke wild nature and Caribbean and Latin American traditions.
Dolores Cortés returns to the Gran Canaria Swim Week runway for another edition. Following the family tradition of over seventy years of making women's swimwear, Dolores Cortés has become one of the most internationally recognized national swimwear brands. "Earth," its Spring Summer 2026 collection, is inspired by the substrata of nature. Predominantly characterized by irregular, curved, and fluid shapes, it takes us back to the handmade techniques that provide so much emotional value.
Swedish designer Kamilla Belmont, through her collection "Amour Oui," presents a transformation of the poetry of flowers through lace and a devotion to craftsmanship. Completely passionate, the inspiration comes from the eternal romance of travel and the poetry of flowers, and the transformative power of the most beautiful word in love: yes. A tribute to handmade craftsmanship, the luster of pearls, the softness of draped silks, and the complexity of handwork.
Universe, the fashion line from the Starlite Group, a leading company in the organization of some of the most important festivals and music events, returns to Gran Canaria Swim Week with its offering that combines quality, innovation, exclusive design, and a commitment to sustainability. Its new Spring-Summer 2026 collection is designed to reflect the dynamic and elegant style of modern men and women. Inspired by the glamorous sophistication of European cruise wear, this collection seeks to offer garments that combine style, comfort, and environmental awareness to enjoy the summer with distinction.
At 7:19.00 p.m., designer Jonathan Diaz's fashion show began under his brand Diazar (La Palma), where craftsmanship, tradition, and sustainability come together. After seven consecutive years at Moda Cálida's Swim Week, this season Diazar brings us "LAUREAE," a sensual ode to wild nature. Set in the Canary Islands' laurel forest, the collection unites swimwear and ready-to-wear with a handcrafted and sustainable vision through recycled leather, plant fibers, and garments reminiscent of bark, vines, and mist.
Making her debut at Gran Canaria Swim Week, Seville-born Susana Gómez and her brand Gogana Swimwear, renowned for its simple, elegant style with an Andalusian touch, continue to maintain their authenticity in every piece. In "ALMA DEL SUR," she pays homage to the brand's most iconic and successful designs. Inspired by the pieces that have shaped her career and won over presenters, celebrities, and loyal customers, this collection combines elegance, personality, and color.
Gran Canaria-based designer Elena Morales, with her commitment to sustainability and Slow Fashion from her workshop on the island, returns to the runway to present her latest collection, a tribute to the free spirit, natural harmony, and the tranquil luxury found in authenticity. Inspired by Huahine (French Polynesia), this collection invites you to indulge in the light textures and the sentimental side of each piece.
To close out the second day of shows at ExpoMeloneras, the American brand GUESS unveils its swimwear collection, celebrating sunshine, style, and sophistication. With bold silhouettes ranging from triangle bikinis and bandeau tops to sculpted one-pieces, this collection features eye-catching details like shimmering lurex, rhinestone appliqués, and seashell-inspired elements.
Versatile out-of-water pieces—such as floaty sarongs, crochet cover-ups, and kimonos—extend the collection beyond the beach. Rich, summery hues, from radiant corals and sunset pinks to turquoise blues and metallic touches, evoke warmth and elegance. ExpoMeloneras, the epicenter of Gran Canaria Swim Week. Expomeloneras once again becomes the epicenter of swimwear, transforming the shows into a true sensorial spectacle. The high-gloss black catwalk, with a capacity for 600 spectators, is 36 meters long and 5 meters wide, and shines under a carefully designed lighting display, capable of bringing each collection to life and creating unique atmospheres.
The stage design seeks to create a choreographic experience that invites viewers to experience fashion as a visual narrative, measuring 19 meters wide by 7 meters deep. Designed with the majesty of a theater, its 10-meter-high curtains will open to reveal the secrets each designer holds until the culminating moment of their creativity, inviting the audience to experience the magic of each presentation.
The large-format screen, 7 meters high by 4 meters wide, tells the story of each proposal, projecting images and visual effects that amplify the designers' imagination and immerse the audience in a universe where fashion, innovation, and storytelling intertwine. The stage vibrates with special effects, smoke, particles, lasers, and more than 200 dynamic spotlights that highlight every detail of the garments, every movement of the models, and every emotion of the designers.
The Gran Canaria Swim Week Terrace will once again be open to the public, where attendees can enjoy the shows via streaming. It will feature an exclusive dining area, a fun chill-out space, and a varied program of complementary activities, bringing the event to the public in a unique way.
