The easyHotel chain has opened its second hotel in Barcelona, located in the La Sagrera neighborhood, near the 22@ technology district and the Sagrada Familia. This newly built establishment has 75 rooms—58 double rooms, 15 twin rooms (with single beds), and 2 rooms adapted for people with reduced mobility—as well as its own parking and breakfast room.
Karim Malak, CEO of easyHotel, and José Antonio Donaire, Commissioner for Sustainable Tourism Management of the Barcelona City Council, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the hotel's inauguration. With this opening, the company now has four hotels operating in Spain and is advancing its national expansion plan, which includes new openings planned for Valencia and Alicante by 2026.
The hotel's location is particularly important due to the future La Sagrera central station, currently under construction, which will directly connect Barcelona with France, enhancing accessibility in the area. According to the company, “with this new addition, easyHotel reinforces its commitment to Spain, a market where strong demand and growth potential make it a priority. It is expected that, by 2026, Spain will account for more than 20% of the company's total revenue.”
“The approach in Spain combines owned, leased, and franchised hotels, located in key urban areas, to attract both domestic and international demand,” the chain adds. Currently, easyHotel has four properties in Spain: Málaga, Madrid Alcalá, Barcelona Fira, and Barcelona La Sagrera.
Globally, the company operates around 50 hotels with approximately 4.700 rooms, of which 16 are franchised and 32 are owned or leased. Founded in 2004, easyHotel is part of Episode 6, a fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners LLP. The company continues to focus on strengthening its presence in strategic markets in Southern Europe, with particular attention to Spain, Portugal, and France.
