The sanitation indicators of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council for 2024 "meet" and "improve" those of 2023, according to the management audit of the Canary Islands Municipal Financing Fund of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The economic and financial health of the City Council, presided over by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, in the year 2024 "indicates an improvement compared to the previous year," according to the management audit of the Canary Islands Municipal Financing Fund of the Ministry of Public Administration, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, unanimously approved by the municipal Corporation in its ordinary plenary session this Thursday.

The report reveals that the economic and financial health indicators “are correct” and “comply” with the levels required by Law 3/1999, which regulates the distribution of the Canary Islands Municipal Financing Fund (FCFM).

The audit concludes that the City Council's net savings stood at 9.8%, 3.8 percentage points above the required level and growing by 4 percentage points compared to 2023, and that the evolution of its long-term debt remained the same compared to the same year, standing at 0.0%.

The report highlights that the municipal tax collection management indicator reached 92.6%, an increase of 46 percentage points compared to 2023, considered "sufficient to meet the required level." The City Council's tax effort, at 99.3%, also exceeded the benchmark level of 71.79%.

In the 2024 fiscal year, the City Council, chaired by Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, achieved a surplus in current operations of 20,8 million euros, exceeding the 2023 surplus by about 10.5 million, and improved its gross and net savings rates compared to the same year by slightly more than 4.5 million.

The budget executed by the City Council experienced an advance of 15.4%, generating a surplus of over 21.9 million euros from the evolution of expenses and income, which improved the result of 2023, which stood at a deficit of almost 42 million euros.

The City Council's tax revenues reached 46.4% of the total, amounting to almost €56,4 million, a 4.1% increase compared to 2023, when they totaled approximately €54,2 million. This upward trend is reflected in tax revenues from fees, public prices, and other direct taxes and income, which grew by 38.3% and 3.5% respectively compared to 2023. Among the direct taxes with the greatest growth, the tax on the increase in the value of urban land stood out, amounting to €717 million, as did the upward trend in taxes on economic activities and rural real estate, which totaled €674 million and €5 million respectively.
