The campaign, promoted by the Las Palmas Food Bank, will be held on November 7, 8 and 9 in 185 establishments of the chain
Solidarity will once again fill the aisles of SPAR Gran Canaria stores on the occasion of the Great Food Collection 2025, organized by the Las Palmas Food Bank, which will be held on November 7, 8 and 9.
This year, the charity campaign will take place in 185 of the 201 SPAR stores on the island, with the aim of exceeding the 29.000 kilos of charity merchandise collected in the previous edition, thanks to the generosity of customers and the commitment of volunteers.
The campaign launch event was attended by the Vice President of SPAR Gran Canaria, José López, and the Vice President of the Las Palmas Food Bank, José Ramón Pablos, who outlined the characteristics of this year's solidarity action.
In this regard, José López highlighted “the value of solidarity and the commitment of our customers and employees, who dedicate themselves to this vital cause every year.” The vice president emphasized that “at SPAR Gran Canaria, we firmly believe in the human impact this campaign can have in meeting the basic needs of those who need it most.”
For his part, the vice president of the Las Palmas Food Bank thanked the supermarket chain for “its constant commitment to our cause” and noted that “companies with values, like SPAR Gran Canaria, build stronger and more supportive communities.”
During the campaign, collection boxes will be available at participating establishments, making it easier for customers to donate food. In addition, staff and volunteers will be clearly identified with vests, which will allow for better organization and visibility of the initiative.
To support the campaign, the Canary Islands supermarket chain will communicate in its stores which basic food items are most in demand, such as non-perishable and essential foods, including whole or semi-skimmed milk, water, canned goods, rice, pasta, coffee, cocoa powder and legumes.
As in previous years, the volunteers for the Great Food Drive will once again include members of the Down Syndrome Association of Las Palmas, who will invite customers of SPAR Plaza de la Feria to collaborate by donating products for the campaign.
