CaixaBank has launched the call for entries for the tenth edition of its Hotels & Tourism Canarias Awards, an initiative that, beyond recognizing businesses, consolidates the bank's position as the leading financier of the hotel modernization process in the Canary Islands. This year, the bank is launching the awards in partnership with the industry associations Ashotel, Feht, Asolan, and Asofuer, and has added new categories in sustainability, innovation, and internationalization.
In practice, the awards act as a barometer of regional tourism investment. In a context of profitability pressured by cost inflation and staff shortages, the bank is committed to highlighting projects that have increased their Average Daily Rate without losing competitiveness. The inclusion of an internationalization category also reflects the growing ambition of Canary Islands groups—traditionally focused on European source markets—to diversify their presence into West Africa and the Caribbean.
The awards will be presented at FITUR 2026, where CaixaBank will once again measure its influence against rivals such as BBVA or Santander, which have intensified their exposure to the hotel sector in the latest urban and non-hotel repositioning cycle, especially in the south of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife.
