The Canary Islands Confederation of Employers (CCE), chaired by Pedro Ortega Rodríguez, has highlighted the CENCOSU (SPAR Gran Canaria) distribution chain, recognizing it as a vital driver of the island's economy and the support of the primary sector. Ortega's official visit to the company's facilities, where he was received by President Ángel Medina and General Manager Dunia Pérez García, focused on evaluating the proximity strategy and the logistical infrastructure that guarantees supply throughout the archipelago.

The central message of the visit underscores that SPAR Gran Canaria is much more than a retailer: it is a pillar of social cohesion and a strategic partner for local products. The chain works with more than 300 farmers and ranchers, ensuring that fresh, locally sourced produce reaches consumers, thus playing an active role in food sovereignty policies. Furthermore, its commitment extends to industrial products #madeintheCanaryIslands, boosting the development of the local agri-food industry.

The technical tour included a visit to the Goro logistics center, with over 21.000 m² of storage space, the Fresh&Go prepared meals production center, and operational areas such as the refrigerated and frozen food sections. The CCE highlighted the company's strong commitment to innovation, process digitization, and ongoing team training, reflecting a modern and efficient business model in food distribution.

Pedro Ortega, former Minister of Economy, Industry, Trade, and Knowledge, emphasized that SPAR's growth model, based on quality, local sourcing, and renewable energy, is fundamental to strengthening the Canary Islands' food supply chain and generating stable employment throughout the islands. The visit underscores the employers' association's position: the Canary Islands' competitiveness depends on strengthening companies like SPAR, which integrate local production with advanced logistics.
