22 restaurants from the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana are offering their culinary creations at the music and tapas route organized by the Department of Local Development this Friday in the parking lots of the Yumbo Shopping Centre.

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will celebrate this Friday the sixth edition of the 'Flavors of the World' cultural and gastronomic festival event, in the parking lot of the Yumbo Shopping Centre, starting at 19:00 p.m.

The event is organized by the Department of Local Development, led by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, and co-financed by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and the Department of Employment and Local Development of the Gran Canaria Island Council.

The Flavors of the World event, which combines international tapas with live music, has become a leading gastronomic fair on the island of Gran Canaria. This year's edition will feature 22 local restaurants and beverage businesses showcasing their culinary offerings, while the musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Tony Bob, The Duke's Band with their Queen tribute, and Los Salvapantallas.

“This is a fair that we launched as a way to revitalize the local restaurant industry and promote its enormous appeal. Over the years, it has become a driving force, a very special event for residents and tourists alike, thanks to the variety of its offerings and its festive atmosphere,” says Elena Álamo.

The tapas that can be tasted will have the flavors of Mediterranean, Indonesian, Argentinian, Turkish, Spanish, Chinese-Asian, Colombian, Canarian, Moroccan, vegan, Italian, homemade, Uruguayan, Finnish and Iberian cuisines.

In that vein, during the evening, attendees can enjoy the offerings of restaurants Hande, Chinatown, Yanuba Gastrobar, Sabores, Pantai Kuta, Marhaba, Vegan Healthy Food, Café 83, Kuparipannu, Montaña de Sabores, MDQ Maspalomas, De Romería, Alma-Gaia, Gastro Society, and Timebreak; the Growls Craft Brewery; and the wineries Hinojo, Las Tirajanas, and Frontón de Oro. Additionally, the Canarian Aboriginal Bartenders Association and students and teachers from the culinary arts and gastronomy program at IES Faro de Maspalomas will also participate with their own stands.

Elena Álamo maintains that the collaboration and participation of the municipality's restaurateurs and winemakers in the 'Flavors of the World' celebration helps to stimulate and diversify the local economy. "This event has become a genuine promotional draw for San Bartolomé de Tirajana thanks to the participating businesses and the highly civic, respectful, and elegant participation of the people who come to enjoy the local cuisine and music with joy and complete ease," she stated.
