The Fortuny Resort strengthens its presence in Maspalomas: it offers up to 1.900 euros per month for waiters and housekeepers.

The Fortuny, a leading tourist establishment in the Maspalomas area, has launched a new recruitment drive to bolster its staff for the peak winter season. The offer includes permanent contracts and salaries ranging from €1.800 to €1.900 gross per month, in line with the trend of rising wages in the accommodation sector in southern Gran Canaria.

The job posting, published by Infoemplea2 on November 6, 2025, seeks to hire grill cooks/waitresses for the restaurant and valet/housekeeping staff for room cleaning and maintenance. The Fortuny Resort, an adults-only establishment in one of the most sought-after areas of Campo Internacional de Maspalomas, is looking to build a stable team with permanent staff. The offer includes full-time hours, rotating shifts, and ongoing in-house training, a factor increasingly valued by workers after years of temporary employment in the island's hospitality industry.

For the grill cook/waiter, the position combines front-of-house service with the direct preparation of dishes on the grill and oven within a chill-out style restaurant. Prior experience, efficient service, and basic knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) are required. Meanwhile, the housekeeping/valet attendants will be responsible for the complete cleaning of accommodation units, maintaining the resort's quality standards and assisting with the replenishment of linens and supplies.

The announcement comes at a time of intense pressure on the tourism job market in southern Gran Canaria. With an average hotel occupancy rate of 86% in October, resorts around Meloneras, Playa del Inglés, and Maspalomas are competing to attract qualified staff amid a shortage of waiters, cooks, and cleaning personnel. “The wage increase is inevitable. Tourist demand remains strong, but it’s difficult to find staff willing to stay year-round,” notes a human resources manager in the accommodation sector consulted by Maspalomas24H.

In fact, the salary increase of between 200 and 300 euros per month compared to 2023 reflects an attempt to retain staff in the face of growing competition from the non-hotel sector and the expansion of new international operators in the Canary Islands. Labor analysts point out that offers like the one at Fortuny anticipate a structural change in tourism employment in the Canary Islands: less turnover, greater contract stability, and a trend toward professionalizing customer service through training and digital management. As Nordic and British tourism consolidates its recovery—with record forecasts for the winter of 2025-2026—competition to attract talent in high-end hospitality will be one of the main challenges for the economic ecosystem of the south of the island.
