A 75-year-old woman confused the gears in her vehicle and ran over three pedestrians on Partera Leonorita Street in San Fernando de Maspalomas. The three injured were treated by the Canary Islands Emergency Service and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
At 15:35 p.m., the Maspalomas Local Police received a call reporting a multiple pedestrian accident on Partera Leonorita Street in San Fernando de Maspalomas. Upon arrival, the first police unit found that a 75-year-old woman had mistakenly engaged reverse gear instead of first while attempting to park, causing her car to mount the sidewalk.
The vehicle struck three pedestrians in the area, causing minor injuries to all three. A basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated the injured at the scene and then transported them to a medical center in the south of the island for further evaluation.
The Traffic Accident Investigation Unit of the Maspalomas Local Police took charge of the corresponding procedures and the preparation of the police report to accurately determine the circumstances of the incident.
