Alejandro Marichal: “This meeting not only offers leisure and activities; it strengthens coexistence and reminds us of the importance of relating to each other, sharing and feeling part of the same community.”

Ruyman Cardoso: “The contributions of associations and residents reinforce a work that we are developing with rigor and active listening, because we want citizens to have a real role in the decisions of the municipality.”

The South Urban Park became a major meeting point for residents this Sunday during the 14th Neighborhood Meeting, an initiative organized by the Department of Citizen Participation of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council. The event saw a high turnout, with over a thousand attendees including families, associations, and residents from different parts of the municipality.

The activities began at 10:00 AM and continued throughout the day with workshops, traditional games, bouncy castles, and musical performances. The paella lunch, served at midday, became one of the most popular events and fostered a friendly and welcoming atmosphere among the attendees.

The Councillor for Citizen Participation, Ruyman Cardoso, highlighted the progress represented by this edition of the meeting, stating that “we have taken another step in consolidating a serious and structured model of citizen participation. The contributions of associations and residents reinforce the work we are developing with rigor and active listening, because we want citizens to have a real role in the decisions of the municipality.”

The participatory workshop brought together the presidents of the residents' associations of Aldea Blanca, Castillo del Romeral, Tunte, and El Pajar, who shared their proposals, concerns, and suggestions to enrich the Citizen Participation Regulations, currently being drafted. Their contributions will be considered in the working document that the City Council continues to update with the active participation of community groups and residents. Throughout the day, an information booth allowed any attendee to consult the draft Regulations and submit their contributions directly.

The day was filled with children's shows, a play area, workshops, sports activities, and musical performances, which kept the South Urban Park buzzing with a festive atmosphere. The afternoon program, featuring live music and entertainment, brought a close to a day marked by community spirit and participation.

The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized the social dimension of the meeting:
“This gathering not only offers leisure and activities; it strengthens community spirit and reminds us of the importance of connecting, sharing, and feeling part of the same community. Today has been an example of what we are capable of building together.”

The Council expressed its gratitude for the response from residents and the collaboration of associations, and reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting spaces where participation and community life take center stage in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
