Sentenced in 2021 to ten years in prison for maritime drug trafficking of cocaine, MDMA and hashish
He hid in the south of the island using false documents and a network of supporters to receive money without leaving a trace.
Within the framework of Operation FUGITIVES 2025 OEDE, and following an investigation carried out by Group 1 of UDYCO Las Palmas, in coordination with Group 1 of Fugitives of the CGPJ and with the Norwegian “Politi”, the arrest of Norway's Number 1 Fugitive has been carried out in Spanish territory.
The suspect, TH, a 53-year-old Norwegian national, was wanted on a European Arrest Warrant issued in 2021, after being sentenced by Norwegian judicial authorities to 10 years in prison for aggravated drug trafficking. According to the sentence, he participated in a maritime drug trafficking operation in which significant quantities of cocaine, MDMA, and hashish were seized.
On October 1st, this Regional Police Headquarters received a request for cooperation from Norwegian authorities, highlighting the fugitive's high level of danger and his importance in organized crime in that country. A joint investigation was then launched, lasting five weeks and involving extensive database checks, discreet surveillance, and consultations with open and on-the-ground sources.
The fugitive had established his base in the south of Gran Canaria, where he could go unnoticed among the numerous tourists from Nordic countries.
He traveled using false documentation, avoiding appearing in official records and employing a network of contacts that sent him money both in cash and through cross-transfers, in order to hide his movements and erase the trail of monetary shipments.
Despite his efforts to remain hidden, on November 12th he was located in a rented house in the municipality of Mogán, where he was identified and arrested by the officers, who took extra security measures given his repeated dangerousness.
Last Thursday, November 13, the arrested man was brought before the Central Court of Instruction number 2 of the National Court, which will be responsible for carrying out his extradition to the Norwegian authorities, following the channels of international judicial cooperation.
