Alejandro Marichal: “This action demonstrates our commitment to the regeneration of the municipality's public housing stock.”

Lucía Jiménez: “The intervention is improving the accessibility, safety and habitability of the blocks, guaranteeing a higher quality of life for the residents.”

The comprehensive rehabilitation works at the IFA Group, promoted by the Housing Department, have reached 37% completion. This project, part of the municipality's Urban Regeneration and Renewal Area (ARRU), represents a total investment of €1.556.164 and aims to modernize the infrastructure and improve the living conditions, accessibility, and sustainability of the five residential blocks that make up the development, comprising a total of 80 homes.

The works, which began at the start of the year, are progressing according to plan, despite a slight two-month delay due to the discovery of hidden defects and the technical complexity arising from the relocation of telecommunications and plumbing installations necessary for the construction of the elevator shafts. Currently, work is underway simultaneously on the demolition, foundation, concrete structure, roof waterproofing, electrical renovation, and facade improvements phases, all aimed at the comprehensive modernization of the residential complex.

Among the completed works are the demolition of lightweight roofs, the reorganization of telecommunications cabling, the reinforcement of structural pillars, and the construction of new exterior elevator shafts using reinforced concrete walls and slabs. Progress has also been made on waterproofing the roofs, completely renewing the electrical network from the main panels to the individual apartments, and improving the facades, which are being refurbished and painted to present a safer, cleaner, and more modern image to the residential complex.

The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized that this project “is a clear demonstration of the governing group’s commitment to the regeneration of public housing in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.” He added that “the Housing Department continues to meet the objectives set out in the 2024-2027 Housing Plan, with an investment of over 13 million euros already being allocated to the rehabilitation of other residential areas in the municipality, such as Las Llaves, El Pajar, La Paz, and the 106 homes in Castillo del Romeral.”

For her part, the Councilor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez, emphasized that “the project is not only modernizing the infrastructure, but is also providing buildings with accessible entrances, elevators, and more efficient systems, which will directly improve the quality of life for residents.” The councilor noted that “the residents’ collaboration has been fundamental throughout the entire process, with their active participation in meetings and in the planning of the work.”

The work at the IFA Group is part of the municipal strategy for the conservation and modernization of public housing, through which the City Council is promoting a more sustainable, safe, and accessible urban model. With this project, the municipality continues to make progress in improving its neighborhoods and consolidating a residential environment that guarantees the well-being and dignity of all citizens.
