The author used a large machete
The quick identification of the assailant, who was known in the area, along with excellent police coordination, allowed for her prompt arrest.
The Civil Guard in Agüimes arrested a woman on November 4th as the suspected perpetrator of a robbery with violence and intimidation at a business in the town of Carrizal de Ingenio. The incident occurred that same morning, around 11:00 a.m.
According to initial investigations, the woman entered the premises and, after threatening the clerk with a large machete, demanded he empty the cash register. Under threat, she seized the cash, a total of 138 euros, which she placed in a plastic bag before leaving the scene.
The use of such a weapon to obtain such a small amount of money particularly caught the attention of the investigators, both because of the high level of violence used and because of the risk the perpetrator herself assumed during the action.
The store's security camera footage proved crucial to the investigation. It showed that approximately an hour before the robbery, the same woman had entered the store asking for money without using violence. During that initial encounter, the clerk had given her some coins. However, around 11:00 a.m., the woman returned to the store with part of her face covered by a hood, dressed the same as on her previous visit, and carrying the machete she had used to threaten the employee.
Thanks to the analysis of the recordings, the agents from the Investigation Unit were able to confirm the identity of the suspect, who is known to be a regular in the area. This identification was reinforced by comparing the images of the robbery with previous police records, even though the perpetrator tried to hinder her recognition by partially obscuring her face.
Another key element was the audio from the security cameras, which allowed the author's voice to be clearly heard as she uttered threats, which facilitated her identification by the investigators.
Once her identity was confirmed, the Civil Guard activated police cooperation mechanisms, highlighting the excellent collaboration with the Ingenio Local Police. Thanks to this coordination, the woman was located and arrested just a few hours after the crime was committed, on the afternoon of November 4th.
The proceedings, along with the detainee, have been sent to the Duty Magistrate's Court of Telde.
