The Gran Canaria Alcalde Camilo Sánchez Half Marathon has crowned its champions, on a Saturday of sport, spectacle and adrenaline in Santa Lucía de Tirajana
Francisco Cabrera Galindo, with a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 40 seconds (1h10'40”), was crowned champion of this 17th edition in the main event, the 21-kilometer race. It wasn't easy. Cabrera Galindo engaged in an epic battle with Evaristo Almeida, who led for the first four laps as a formidable rival. The turning point came in the final kilometers, when Cabrera Galindo took the lead and held it until the finish, leaving Almeida in second place with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 50 seconds (1h12'50”). Aythami Navarro rounded out the top three with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 55 seconds (1h15'55”).
In the women's category, Rossana Panipucci maintained a consistent pace throughout the half marathon, achieving a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, and 11 seconds (1h35'11”). She caught up with Davinia Déniz Ortega on the final lap and crossed the finish line together (1h35'11”). Mayka Hidalgo Peña secured third place with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes, and 18 seconds (1h40'18”).

The 10-kilometer race was won by Alberto Cabrera Hernández, with a time of 33 minutes and 56 seconds (33' 56") at a frenetic pace of 3:23 per kilometer. He was followed by Jorge Álvarez Álamo, who finished in 34 minutes and 17 seconds (34' 17"), in a thrilling final sprint against Raúl Bermúdez Plasencia, who took third place with a time of 34 minutes and 19 seconds (34' 19"). In the women's race, Iris Henríquez González, with a time of 39 minutes and 48 seconds (39' 48"), crossed the finish line as the overall champion, with a comfortable lead over Marta Batista León, who took the silver medal with a time of 43 minutes and 39 seconds (43' 39"). Marya Gisel Pino Gallardo finished third with a time of 46 minutes and 56 seconds. (46' 56”).
The fastest of the events, the 5K, was pure energy, with a thrilling, high-speed race led by Rodrigo Nájera (17' 02"), followed by Matías Dumpiérrez (17' 08") and Pablo Alonso (17' 16"). In the women's 5K, the Swedish athlete Jenna Melrose Jonasson (19' 48") took first place, with Vanessa Reina (20' 45") and Marta Santana (23' 17") completing the podium in second and third place respectively.

Without a doubt, one of the most impressive events of the day was the roller skating races, the 5K races, where the elite of this discipline did not disappoint. Pure adrenaline on a course for the most daring, where the best have caused a sensation with impossible times like that of Abel Martínez, seventh in the world, who crossed the finish line in 10 minutes and 42 seconds (10' 42"), alongside Mikel Alzueta, Spanish champion, European champion and fifth in the world (10' 42"), and Iván González with an equally impressive 10 minutes and 50 seconds (10' 50"). The female leaders did not disappoint either, with Katherine Cardona in the lead with 10 minutes and 45 seconds (10' 45"), tied with Itziar Gutiérrez, fourth in the world (10' 45"), and Sara Velázquez, fourth in Spain, who took the bronze in 11 minutes and 22 seconds (11' 22").
In the 1-kilometer rollerblading circuit, the women dominated the competition, needing just 5 minutes to reach the finish line, with Inés López-Mingo (4' 44"), Noa Prada (4' 56"), and Claudia Castelo (5' 38") leading the way. In the men's category, Diego Ivars (5' 16"), Aarón Grande (6' 03"), and Alejandro Almeida (6' 56") led the race.
The young athletes not only proved their strength and speed in the kilometer on wheels, but they were also the stars of a whole morning of sport and fun in Santa Lucía de Tirajana. Tasked with kicking off the Gran Canaria Alcalde Camilo Sánchez Half Marathon, the youngest participants, in age groups, filled Vecindario with a fantastic atmosphere, racing throughout the morning. The 'Fruit Festival' Accessible Walk was undoubtedly one of the most heartwarming moments of a Saturday packed with events, with a 3-kilometer route for everyone that electrified the town with contagious energy.
Live music from Luz de Luna, Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto and Los 600 set the rhythm, in an edition that has proven to be much more than sport, with a runner's expo, catering, talks, workshops, children's games and an agenda that has turned the La Karpa area into the epicenter of activity for more than 12 hours.
The Gran Canaria Alcalde Camilo Sánchez Half Marathon, organized by Top Time Eventos, is promoted by the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council through the Santa Lucía Municipal Sports Management, the Santa Lucía Municipal Athenaeum, the Gran Canaria Island Council through the Island Sports Institute, with sponsorship from Taro, Bolaños, Hospiten Roca, Sonocom and Modas Cristal, and the collaboration of Canary Athletes, Chikillos de Vecindario sports club, Coca-Cola, Gofio La Piña, Tirma, Damasi, and the UAVA Vecindario-Agüimes Athletic Union.
