The 2025 Great Food Drive, organized by the Las Palmas Food Bank, has once again demonstrated the power of community collaboration on the island. During the campaign, held from November 7th to 9th at 185 SPAR Gran Canaria stores, more than 25.100 kilos of essential products were collected for families in need.
In the different stores of the supermarket chain, 107 boxes were collected, which included whole and semi-skimmed milk, water, canned goods, rice, pasta, coffee, cocoa powder and legumes.
On Monday, November 24, in the presence of the president of the Food Bank, Pedro Miguel Llorca; the general manager of SPAR Gran Canaria, Dunia Pérez; and the vice president of the chain, José López, they handed over everything that had been collected.
Adding this Great Collection to other solidarity campaigns developed throughout the year, SPAR Gran Canaria has delivered more than 48.1 tons of products to the Food Bank in 2025, including the more than 21.000 kilos from the Spring Collection and the 1.400 cartons of milk and 600 units of gofio contributed to the 'No Home Without Food' campaign.
The work of the 367 volunteers from the chain who helped in the campaign was essential; thanks to them, the collection and sorting of the products could be carried out efficiently and in an organized manner. Furthermore, they represented 50% of the total participants.
