The aerospace ecosystem of southern Gran Canaria gains institutional weight

YURENA VEGA - M24H Wednesday, November 26, 2025

The Canary Islands Aerospace Cluster (CAAC) has announced a significant institutional boost that underscores the island's strategic commitment to consolidating its role in the space industry. The Gran Canaria Island Council and the Canary Islands Government, through Proexca, have officially joined as institutional sponsors of the 2nd Canary Islands Aerospace Congress. This event, scheduled for December 15th and 16th at ExpoMeloneras by Lopesan MICE (Maspalomas), is thus shaping up to be a high-profile political and business gathering.

The direct involvement of the Island Council and the Regional Government is a key factor for the CAAC. This collaboration aims to strengthen the environment where administrations, companies, and knowledge centers can align their efforts for the growth of the sector in the Canary Islands. Institutional support is considered essential to create a space that not only fosters innovation and talent but also generates new opportunities for the Canary Islands' technological ecosystem as a whole.

The Canary Islands Aerospace Congress is designed to be a crucial meeting point. It will bring together leading professionals, organizations, and specialists in the sector, allowing them to share projects, analyze trends, and, most importantly, position the archipelago as a territory with the real capacity to lead strategic initiatives in the Spanish aerospace industry. The sector's international visibility is already being strengthened with the support of entities such as ICEX, which highlights Canary Islands success stories like IENAI SPACE, contributing to a more competitive and innovative environment.

The CAAC concluded its announcement by thanking ICEX, the Gran Canaria Island Council, and Proexca for their support of an event that actively seeks to "continue building a future for the sector." Details about the speakers and panel discussions will be released at the official program presentation next Tuesday. Registration for the Aerospace Congress is now open.
