The private security service for municipal parks, markets and facilities for the next two years is being put out to tender for 1,2 million euros
The Parks and Gardens Department seeks to eradicate acts of vandalism in the parks and gardens.
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has launched a public tender for private security and surveillance services for public parks, markets, and municipal facilities for the next two years, with an estimated contract value of €1.200.887. The deadline for submitting bids is Monday, December 8.
The Department of Parks and Gardens, headed by Deputy Mayor Araceli Armas Cruz and coordinated by Councillor Eduardo Armas Herrera, is tendering this security and surveillance service in three lots, with the largest expenditure -around €437.000- corresponding to the protection of public parks, specifically the facilities of Parque del Sur, the multifunctional parks of El Tablero and San Fernando de Maspalomas, and the Paseo Marítimo Park of Las Salinas in Castillo del Romeral.
The Parks and Gardens Department has decided to contract this private security service to protect the parks, ensure civic behavior within them, and monitor the proper use of the furniture and facilities. The aim is to prevent and eradicate the acts of vandalism that have caused so much damage to these public spaces.
“Inappropriate use is forcing the City Council to assume numerous costs arising from repairs and replacements of rest and play equipment, restroom fixtures, and even irrigation systems, which represent a significant financial effort to restore normalcy to the facilities and ensure their safe use by residents. The parks that will have security are those that receive a high number of visitors daily, requiring optimal maintenance of the facilities,” states Araceli Armas.
