The Civil Guard uncovers a fake sports agent in southern Gran Canaria who abused 61 minors

He used emotional manipulation techniques to obtain sexually explicit material and arrange face-to-face encounters, which materialized on several occasions.

He used his identity as a supposed sports manager, presenting himself as a professional with contacts and offering minors false opportunities for advancement.

The Civil Guard has arrested a man for committing serious crimes of sexual abuse and corruption of minors, posing as a sports agent. The investigation, dubbed “Fake Manager,” has identified 61 victims, all of them minors, who had not previously filed complaints. In some cases, the now-detained man even had sexual relations with some of the victims.

The operation began following the testimony of one of the victims, who, with psychological support, revealed the abuse suffered in December 2024. This first testimony proved decisive, given that none of the other victims had previously reported it.

From that moment, and after the initial evidence was gathered in March 2025, the corresponding legal proceedings were initiated to clarify what had happened. The success of the investigation was based on the meticulous analysis of the contents of the mobile phone seized from the detainee and on obtaining numerous statements from both victims and witnesses.

A planned and structured modus operandi. The alleged perpetrator, identified among the minors by a nickname, used a highly planned and structured method. He operated in the digital environment, as is common among online sexual predators, employing emotional manipulation techniques to obtain sexually explicit material and arrange in-person encounters, which took place on several occasions.

The arrested man combined two particularly effective methods of deception. On the one hand, he used his identity as a supposed sports manager, presenting himself as a professional with contacts and offering minors false opportunities for advancement: trials at high-performance clubs, inclusion in professional databases, or the dissemination of their profiles on specialized networks.

These promises became an instrument of manipulation to generate a debt of gratitude that resulted in obtaining favors of a sexual nature, including the request for pornographic material or the arrangement of intimate encounters.

Multiple false identities

On the other hand, he used fake female identities to broaden his reach and reduce the suspicions of young people. Through these social media profiles, he gradually introduced sexually explicit conversations, requested intimate images, and sent pornographic material, with the aim of normalizing this behavior. The victims reported that he repeatedly insisted on discussing sexual topics and requesting explicit photographs.

The individual also exploited his apparent position of authority as a sports representative to exert control over the minors, who obeyed his instructions without question, even when they strayed from the strictly sporting realm. Investigators also detected the existence of fake profiles managed by the detainee to recruit new victims, offering money in exchange for sexual acts.

During the course of the investigation, the Civil Guard confirmed that the detainee had violated the court-ordered measures imposed after his initial arrest. Despite the prohibition against engaging in activities involving minors, he organized a sports trip in which several of them participated. After the facts were brought to the attention of the judicial authorities, he was arrested again on November 12, 2025, and his immediate imprisonment was ordered for breach of the precautionary measures.

As part of this new operation, a house search was carried out which allowed the agents to seize new items of interest, currently under analysis.

The gravity of the acts is aggravated by the abuse of a position of trust and authority. The mere act of recruiting minors for sexual purposes already constitutes a violation of their freedom and sexual integrity, which fully justifies criminal intervention.

Operation “Fake Manager,” with a total of 61 identified victims, underscores the importance of raising awareness among families and children about the risks of “grooming,” that is, the intentional manipulation by an adult to gain the trust of a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse. The danger posed by the detainee lay not only in his capacity for deception and persuasion, but also in his reckless disregard for judicial authorities by continuing his activities while under investigation.

Thanks to the work carried out by the Civil Guard, it has been possible not only to neutralize a highly dangerous individual, but also to provide the necessary evidence to offer the victims the psychological and legal support they need after the prolonged manipulation they suffered.

The proceedings have been conducted by the Judicial Police Team of Vecindario and have been sent to the Duty Magistrate's Court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
