The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a trial before the Provincial Court of Las Palmas for a crime against public health, seeking sentences of up to six years in prison for a male inmate and four years and nine months for a female inmate, after they were caught with various narcotics at the Las Palmas II Penitentiary Center. The incident dates back to the afternoon of August 15, 2022, when the defendants, identified as NSH and IFB, arranged a conjugal visit at the prison, located in the judicial district of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. According to the prosecution's indictment, the two defendants conspired to smuggle the substances with the intention of obtaining an illicit benefit. After the visit, the inmate underwent a radiological examination, during which six packets containing a considerable quantity of narcotics were found on him.

The seized substance included: 230,5 grams of cannabis resin, 37,73 grams of heroin (with a purity of 12,75%), and several doses of cocaine, totaling 13,35 grams, with very high purities (between 73,49% and 91,89%). The total value of the seized drugs amounts to €4.535,9.

The events described constitute a crime against public health, specifically the distribution of substances that cause serious harm to health. The prosecution is requesting a six-year prison sentence and a fine of €13.607 for NSH (the inmate). In his case, the aggravating circumstance of recidivism applies, given that he already had a prior conviction for a similar offense imposed by the Provincial Court of Las Palmas in 2017.

For IFB (the visitor), the prosecution is requesting a sentence of four years and nine months in prison and a fine of €13.607. The defendant also has a prior criminal record, although this is not considered for the purposes of recidivism. The charges are brought against both of them as perpetrators of the crime, due to their prior agreement to introduce the substances into the prison.
