The International Police Association (IPA) football tournament, which will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Maspalomas Sports City playing fields, features 28 teams.
The area around the Maspalomas Lighthouse will host the opening ceremony of the II World Football 7 Championship of the International Police Association (IPA) this Thursday at 17:00 p.m., an international sports tournament that will be held at the Maspalomas Sports City from December 11 to 14.
The opening ceremony on the esplanade of the Lighthouse will consist of a uniformed parade of officers and flags from the 28 participating teams, accompanied by music from the Guiniguada Band. There will also be a demonstration by canine handlers, a musical performance by tenor Jesús Monzón and timple player Abraham Mateo, and the ceremonial first kick will be performed by a member of the Little Brave Foundation against childhood cancer.
The parade will feature representatives from all the security forces and agencies (Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, General Corps of the Canary Islands Police, Navarre Regional Police, Mossos d'Esquadra and Ertzaintza) from different Spanish communities (Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Navarre, Basque Country, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Valencian Community and Canary Islands), in addition to participating teams from Germany, Canada, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Romania, Senegal and Switzerland.
The event is expected to be attended by the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez; the Tourism Councillor of the Island Council, Carlos Álamo Cabrera; the Councillor for Sports, Ramón Suárez Ojeda; the Councillor for Security and Emergencies, José Carlos Álamo Ojeda; representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard, Local Police of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police; the honorary consuls of Switzerland, Romania, Italy, Senegal, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland; representatives of the Military Command in the Canary Islands and, among others, representatives of the International Police Association (IPA).
During the championship, which will be played physically on Friday and Saturday at the Maspalomas Sports City playing fields, in 25-minute matches, a solidarity tent will be set up for raffles of equipment provided by UD Las Palmas and Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria.
