The Civil Guard of Vecindario has completed an operation that has led to the arrest of an individual as the alleged perpetrator of attempted homicide, following an extremely violent attack that occurred in the early hours of December 2, 2025. The events took place on a main street of the town, where a man was found semi-conscious and with serious injuries.
Police action began immediately after a citizen reported the incident. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics assisted the victim, who had suffered serious injuries and had no identification. The victim was urgently transferred to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
In the initial hours, the investigation faced a significant challenge: the victim remained hospitalized, unconscious, and without identification, which hindered communication and complicated identification. Given this situation, those in charge of the investigation requested the intervention of the Vecindario Territorial Judicial Police Team, which took over the proceedings.
Thanks to the efforts made, including fingerprinting, the victim was fully identified. Initial medical reports confirmed the extreme severity of his condition, with a very guarded prognosis.

The Investigation Unit of the Vecindario Police Station conducted a detailed analysis of public transport recordings, which showed the victim, the assailant, and a third man arguing inside the vehicle. Visualizing the car's license plate allowed for the full identification of the alleged perpetrator.
Subsequently, leveraging the officers' knowledge of the local social environment, various efforts were made to locate the assailant, who remained in hiding knowing he was wanted. Finally, as the investigation progressed and led to his full identification, the individual decided to surrender voluntarily on December 10, 2025, at the Vecindario Main Police Station, where he was arrested as the suspected perpetrator of attempted homicide.
The extremely violent attack occurred while the victim was already immobilized, and he received several blows to the head. The 40-year-old man remains hospitalized in critical condition, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
The incident, stemming from a previous dispute, highlights the importance of swift and effective police action to guarantee public safety and prevent individuals capable of causing such severe harm from remaining at large. These types of incidents understandably generate concern among residents, as they occur in public spaces and at night.
The proceedings carried out by the Civil Guard have been sent to the Court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana on duty, whose head has ordered the provisional imprisonment of the detainee.
