More than 21 grams of drugs seized in public leisure area

The Civil Guard, through its Vecindario Company, arrested a man on December 9, 2025, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking in Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Las Palmas). The operation took place around 20:45 p.m., in the vicinity of a public leisure and recreation area.

It all started when a reinforcement patrol (PRC) was carrying out citizen security duties in the area. The officers observed an individual in front of a business making an exchange with another person: he was handing over a package in exchange for money, which raised suspicions of drug dealing.

The Civil Guard officers immediately intercepted both men and proceeded to identify and search them. The detainee, a man, was found to have five single-dose packets of a brown, resinous substance, presumably hashish pollen, in his trouser pocket, weighing a total of 18,99 grams. He was also carrying 10 euros in two 5-euro bills.

The other person involved was also carrying a sealed bag with two packets of the same substance, weighing an additional 2,22 grams. In total, 21,21 grams of hashish were seized, valued at approximately 127 euros according to the National Narcotics Office (ONE).

Once informed of his rights, the detainee exercised his right to remain silent and requested a court-appointed lawyer. The case file was sent to the duty court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

The patrol's quick observation allowed them to document the transaction in progress and ensure safety in a high-traffic area. This type of intervention strengthens the fight against micro-trafficking, which generates insecurity and health risks in public spaces.
