Four simultaneous house searches were carried out, two in the capital, two in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and four people have been arrested.

The agents seized various digital and computer equipment, storage devices, a revolver-type firearm, and also confiscated narcotics.

The ongoing investigation has located at least seven victims, and further arrests are possible.

Agents of the National Police and the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police carried out a joint operation on December 16th on the island of Gran Canaria as part of an investigation into alleged crimes against the sexual freedom and integrity of minors.

The investigation began after both police forces exchanged information, which revealed consistent evidence of possible criminal activity related to the sexual exploitation of minors. From that point on, close judicial and police coordination was established, allowing the investigation to progress.

As a result of the operation, four people were arrested and two searches were carried out at homes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and two in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.

During these operations, the agents seized various digital and computer equipment, as well as storage devices, a revolver-type firearm, and also confiscated narcotic substances in three of the inspected homes.

The investigation suggests that those arrested may be involved in facilitating sexual encounters with minors, the alleged victims being young residents in protection centers dependent on the Government of the Canary Islands.

The operation, which remains open and for which further arrests are possible, has led to the location of a total of seven victims.

Once the police investigation was completed, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which decreed the same provisional imprisonment for all four detainees.

The National Police and the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police reiterate their firm commitment to the fight against any form of child sexual exploitation and stress the importance of citizen collaboration for the detection and eradication of these particularly serious crimes.
