Maspalomas has become a hub for social and educational innovation with the rollout of the 360º Support project, spearheaded by the Sergio Alonso Foundation. This initiative, designed to guide, support, and inspire teachers working in particularly vulnerable contexts, has been developed over the past few months in southern Gran Canaria with a comprehensive approach and direct impact on the educational community.

The pilot program was carried out at the IES Faro de Maspalomas school, where the project implemented a methodology of real and continuous support. Workshops with students, coordinated work with families, close collaboration with the management and teaching staff, and personalized tutoring with the responsible teacher were the cornerstones of an intervention that goes beyond the classroom to address the root causes of early school leaving.

One of the program's key focuses has been strengthening students' soft skills, understood as essential transversal competencies for remaining in the education system and building solid life trajectories. From communication and self-esteem to emotional management and motivation, the project has sought to prevent and reduce school dropout rates from a preventative and community-based perspective.

The development of the 360º Support program has benefited from the collaboration of CaixaBank Dualiza, strengthening the link between education, employability, and social cohesion. This partnership has provided the project with resources, a strategic vision, and the capacity to be replicated in other educational centers with similar circumstances. The Sergio Alonso Foundation defines the initiative as “sowing seeds today to transform tomorrow,” a philosophy that resonates deeply with the specific needs of Maspalomas, a region marked by social and educational disparities. The project not only yields measurable results in the present but also establishes a stable avenue for supporting teachers and students in environments where education is, more than ever, a tool for equity and a better future.
